Description

I want to call my experimental camera as ‘binary camera’. I want to present my deep thinking about technology. I am an anti-AI person. Somehow I always imagine all these new technologies developed further the less existence of the human would be. This camera only capture the light and shadow, both of them transform to the binary algorithm—0,1. The slider can be adjust to see the different contraction of light and shadow. The array of this assignment only includes 0 and 1. This is a sad story about after thousands years flesh-and-blood human beings convert themselves into a single binary element.

Design Process

I drew these three different camera.

The first one is the edge detection. The second one is motion delay. The third one is binary camera.

I finally choose the last one for my experimental camera, which is inspired by one of my favorite movies “The Matrix”. The last scene of this movie is that people changed to be a series of coding and disappeared in countless binary world. This is very expressed to let human think about what exactly who we are. Behind the computer, all the images that computer Cali turned is just a collection of codes. Our emotions and feeling would disappear.

Reflection

The digital camera is not the same recording way than film camera. The transformation from the vision to the digital is a huge step between the human and computer interaction. Thinking deeply about this issue. What our human would be if the digital world replace the whole natural world that we are living in.
